The Association of British Insurers has revealed that each of the estimated 7,000 homes not covered by contents insurance could lose up to £30,000.

While Gordie Brown has an aid package worth some £14million, this may well fall far short of the total needed to get everyone affected back on their feet. Indeed, the ABI put the total cost at £200million.
