Computer giant Microsoft admits it’s facing a bill in excess of £1billion to cover the cost of offering extended warranties due to technical faults with its Xbox 360 games console.
These technical faults with the console, indicated by those three red flashing lights, have plagued users although Microsoft have refused to reveal just how many of its machines had suffered problems. They say the number was “bigger than we are comfortable with.” So more than five?
Robbie Bach, President of Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Division says: “The majority of Xbox 360 owners are having a great experience with their console and have from day one. But this problem has caused frustration for some of our customers and for that, we sincerely apologise.”
However, despite the ongoing technical problems, Microsoft still expects its xBox division to make a profit in the next financial year.
From now on, customers who experience problems with their consoles will be given a three-year warranty. Or they could just step outside their houses and go for a walk in the fresh air. Or something.
