Severn Trent Refuse Compensation For Floods

brittania.gifYou have to hand it to the nation’s water companies. While torrents of water burst out of their broken pipes they tell us to stop watering our lawns and when customers are left without mains water for over a week, they refuse to payout any compensation.

That’s the dreadful outlook facing Severn Trent customers who were caught up in the recent flood mayhem.

After The Flood, The Insurance Premiums

Talking about the weather is usually a last resort after a conversation has started to die, however, this summer, the subject is a justifiable hot topic, after torrential rain ruined our holiday season.

And now it has been revealed that hundreds of thousands of homeowners affected by the dismal weather will be hit by higher household insurance premiums.

This weekend’s flooding is estimated to take the cost of claims past the £2.5billion this month. Forget your hosepipe bans and waste as much water as you like.

download.jpgThe jump from gatefold sleeves and ‘music-centres’ to MP3s and iTunes has been as revolutionary as it has been fast, however, a new report from the consumer watchdog Which? may well wipe the smug smiles of the faces of music download addicts across the land.

Get Cheaper Home Insurance

HOME insurance may make us all sleep a little bit better at night, but new research by the Post Office is sure to give us all a wake up call.

According to the Post Office, over eight million homeowners are paying too much for their home insurance, with the overall national figure overpaid reaching at least £1 billion.

The survey found that one in ten thought it was compulsory to buy their mortgage lender’s insurance while one third were convinced that their mortgage would be at risk if they shopped around and bought elsewhere.

The Post Office also claim that over 60% of homeowners could save £90 by switching insurance and a further 10 per cent up to £173.

However they failed to explain why they lose so many of our bloody letters.

Dodgy Motors Drive Us To Despair

Ah the memories – that first fumble in the back seat after the school hop, drag racing on the empty streets at night or driving with the top down on Sunset Boulevard – obviously they’re not my memories, more likely those of someone American. Who was around in the fifties.

However, no matter however mundane it may be, the history of your car may cost you, either your money or even your life.

A new survey by insurer More Than has revealed that one in three cars has a dodgy past with its guilty secrets ranging from unpaid loans, which mean that the lender can legally size your car, to insurance write-offs.

The survey also found that while six out of every 10 motorists find their car on the web, only one in ten makes the effort to check the car’s history.

In response to this potentially lethal lack of information, a number of insurance providers have introduced checking schemes which cover change of ownership, mileage, insurance status, whether it is stolen or whether it is connected to any outstanding debt.

I must check up on my Sinclair C5.
