Halifax Bank Wants To Give Away Money

With £50million of unclaimed cash laying dormant in their accounts, the bank has decided to call in credit reference agency Experian to track down the 110,000 forgetful customers who own the funds which haven’t been touched for 15 years or more.

One Million Hit By Taxman Errors

Income%20Tax-jpg.jpgMake sure to check just how much income tax you are paying, as our old friend the Taxman is back in the news, but this time for making quite a large hash of income tax collection.

According to the National Audit Office, HM Revenue and Customs calculated the tax correctly in 95 per cent of cases in the 2006/07 tax year. However, that still left one million people paying the wrong amount of tax, with £125million uncollected and a massive £157million overpaid.

Martin Lewis Misses Noodle: Cheap Holiday Mobile Calls

It’s an interesting article, very well researched. But is didn’t pick up on noodle. Which for a man so in tune with the best deals around is surprising and, dare I say, remiss.

Save Energy: Share A Cremation

cremation.jpgCouncil bosses in Blackburn have decided to cremate bodies three at a time in a cost-cutting exercise that, not surprisingly, has shocked grieving relatives.

The Darwen Borough Council in Lancashire plans to store bodies for up to 24 hours after a funeral before cremating them in batches of three in order save money on staff overtime. And while the Council is following national guidelines, the radical plans have met with strong local opposition.
